Authentic vs. Imitation: Does the Clean Factory Rolex Greenwich Sprite Bezel With Dandong 3285 Movement Match The Original?
Hello everyone, I’m CH Watch Industry. I’m passionate about educating others on replica watches, comparing authentic and counterfeit models, and providing insights to help you navigate the world of watch collecting. Tao Ge has previously highlighted numerous versions of the Clean Factory Rolex Greenwich series, and there are indeed many replicas available in the market. Notable manufacturers include the earlier N Factory, followed by the Clean Factory, C+ Factory, and others. Today, I’ll introduce the latest version featuring the Dandong 3285 movement and the Sprite bezel from the Clean Factory Rolex. I’ve previously discussed the upgrade of the Clean Factory Rolex Greenwich with the Dandong 3285 movement and whether it’s worth the investment. The factory shared information about this early on when the authentic model was quite rare in the domestic market, especially the coke bezel (now the shipment includes the actual Sprite bezel). Let’s dive into a detailed evaluation of the Clean Factory Sprite bezel and determine its authenticity.
The Clean Factory Sprite bezel is a standout product from Clean Factory Rolex, featuring a distinctive black and green one-piece fired ceramic design with remarkably similar hues. The platinum scales are carefully filled, maintaining the color block technology seen in the previous coke bezel/interpol models. There’s a subtle blending effect between the two colors, creating a seamless transition without a noticeable dividing line. In contrast, typical combination color ceramic bezels available on the market often have a stark, straight line that appears rigid. This bezel showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of the Clean Factory. While several other manufacturers offer versions, the quality of the bezel varies significantly, allowing even those with a basic understanding of watches to easily identify the differences.
Additionally, the texture and finish of the Clean Factory Rolex Greenwich left-handed Sprite bezel movement are remarkably refined, with clear and detailed fonts that stand in stark contrast to the rougher quality of earlier versions. Previously equipped with the 3186 movement, this latest iteration features the upgraded Dandong 3285 movement (as illustrated in the real shot below, where the two fast and slow hands of the Dandong 3285 are positioned on the same side). The power reserve has also been enhanced from 48 hours to 72 hours. This movement includes KIF shock absorbers and blue hairsprings, with each unit undergoing testing via QE simulation. The movement’s structure closely resembles that of the original, and the shock absorbers are functional rather than merely cosmetic, ensuring a secure fit without any gaps. The movement gears are authentic and operational, providing a time adjustment feature that mirrors the original. Time adjustments are made by rotating counterclockwise, while the hour hand can be adjusted forwards or backwards, replicating the original mechanism precisely. Overall, this movement is stable and accurate.
Furthermore, the watch straps from the Clean Factory utilize components sourced from the AR factory, showcasing craftsmanship that is considered to be among the best in the current market.
The watch features a sapphire crystal, offering transparency that matches the original. The hour markers at 3, 6, and 12 are finely chamfered and generously filled with luminous material. Notably, the calendar window has been shifted from its original 3 o’clock position to 9 o’clock. While the striking design of the Sprite bezel is unique and eye-catching, it may not be as comfortable for those accustomed to wearing their watches on the right wrist. Nonetheless, it exudes a sense of style and flair.
Review of the Clean Factory Rolex Greenwich Sprite Bezel Craftsmanship
The ceramic bezel on this timepiece features a unique black and green one-piece fired design exclusive to Clean Factory, with colors remarkably close to the original. The platinum scales are filled in using the same coloring technique as the previous Coke bezel and international rice models. This results in a subtle “bleeding” effect between the two colors, creating a seamless transition without any clear dividing line. In comparison, the standard colored ceramic bezels from other manufacturers tend to have a rigid straight line, giving them a much more lackluster appearance.
The watch features a solid center axis, three-dimensional hands, and polished edges on the indices, ensuring a high level of craftsmanship. The dial boasts fully luminous markers, precise engravings without any burrs, and an anti-counterfeiting mark at the 6 o’clock position, enhanced by a 152 laser dot combination. This dial design is spot-on, eliminating the need for any upgrades. The “New Greenwich” bi-color rotating bezel indicates nighttime on the upper part and daytime on the lower part, perfectly complementing the unique green triangular arrow-shaped 24-hour hand on the dial. It’s an essential timepiece for global travelers.
The Clean Factory’s Rolex GMT Sprite bezel features a left-handed winding crown, making it a genuine left-handed watch. While there have been left-handed versions in the history of the Rolex GMT Sprite, they are quite rare, adding to the watch’s distinctive appeal. The case is crafted from 904L stainless steel, known for its excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation.
The watch’s middle case is crafted from a single piece of solid Oyster steel, with the crown positioned on the left side. This design integrates the crown shoulder with the case, providing protection for the winding crown and ensuring a water resistance of up to 100 meters.
The strap is crafted from AR material and offers two accessory options: a five-bead chain and an Oyster bracelet. Each link of the stainless steel five-bead chain is meticulously polished. The commemorative edition features 904L Oyster stainless steel with five solid links, brushed edges, and a polished outer surface. Additionally, it includes an Oyster safety buckle that allows for easy extension or shortening at the factory, providing excellent convenience.
The case back is solid and finely brushed, providing a clear sense of depth. It houses an integrated 3285 movement that features a KIF shock absorber and a blue hairspring, all of which have been simulated and tested using the QE automatic winding instrument. This movement functions just like the original. The calendar is adjusted by quickly rotating the hour hand, mirroring the original’s functionality, and can be swiftly adjusted in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. It displays three time zones (2+1) and features a two-way bezel with an instant calendar jump. Notably, the second gear allows for stable backward adjustment of the hour hand, ensuring reliable calendar jumps. This advanced movement effectively addresses previous shortcomings, setting a standard that other manufacturers have yet to achieve.
